ABOUT US
The Vintage Lighting and Fan Shoppe is a licensed business owned and operated by Craig and Teresa Glandon, a husband and wife team, near the city of Sacramento in California. Craig is a journeyman lampsmith trained by a Master Lampsmith with over 45 years of experience in vintage and antique lighting ranging from 1840`s oil lamps to 1940`s art deco electric lights. His other qualifications include 8 years in auto body & paint shops plus a tour of duty in the U.S. Navy as an aviation electronics technician and many years restoring vintage fans. Teresa, semi-retired after 24 years in the automotive business (Inventory specialist, accounting) is our webmaster and marketing department. She is also our artist, researching the color palettes you see represented and hand painting our fixtures. She also solely created and designed this website. We take some artistic license in the composing of our color placement and we believe we have brought out the details of these lovely fixtures in a sophisticated manner. We believe it is our attention to detail and our own quirky perfectionism that allows us to achieve the results you see on our website.

We take great pride in offering quality restorations, we do not cut any corners nor do we spare any expense in order to achieve this. Each restoration starts by having the fixture bead blasted to bare metal, this removes every trace of paint and rust or corrosion which may be present. This is very important when striving for a quality restoration. Bead blasting is also the only safe method for stripping delicate castings plus the plastic beads are re-used, making this the only "green" method available. After bead blasting each fixture is properly cleaned prior to being sealed in primer. We DO NOT use soap and water at this critical stage, as this will only insure that rust will bleed through the paint at a later date. Next, the fixture is sealed in primer and  cured. The fixture is then hand refinished to a very high level of detail using specific colors of the period. We assemble our fixtures using all new parts from a lamp parts supply house, including sockets, switches, wiring and hardware. All hanging fixtures get new chain that is an exact duplicate of the original in most cases. You also get a new crossbar and mounting screws plus each fixture comes with the ground wire required to meet current building codes. We also have available reproduction frosted bulbs like those originally used on bare bulb fixtures from the 1900`s to the 1930`s to complete the look of our fixtures.

We have sold over 1000 fixtures worldwide since 2005 and we are currently involved with several renovation projects throughout the US, our latest project is an 1840`s farm house in W. VA owned by the Chairman and Treasurer of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation, the organization that owns and operates Monticello (Thomas Jeffersons home). We are also supplying vintage light fixtures for the Chateau Rossmore,  a 1934 three story art deco apartment building in Hollywood, Ca. Other recent renovation are an 1880`s two story home in California`s gold country, a 1920`s bar & restaurant in The Hamptons, NY and the Art Nouveau Cafe' "Vera Cafe'" in St. Petersburg, Russia.  Please see our Testimonials page for comments from our satisfied clients.
